Hamas Pledges Victory in Battle for Liberation of Palestine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Palestinian Hamas leader condemned Israel for desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and made assurances that the resistance movement, backed by the Palestinian nation, will emerge victorious in the battle for the liberation of Palestine.

With the support of the Palestinian people, the resistance movement will achieve victory in the battle for the liberation of the occupied territories, Mahmoud al-Zahar said in a demonstration staged in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday afternoon.

The Palestinian leader added that the movement will give the occupiers a lesson for the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“The Zionists’ plots for the Judaization of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupied al-Quds will get nowhere,” Zahar noted.

The remarks came as Palestinians clashed with Israeli forces in Quds city (Jerusalem) and the occupied West Bank after Hamas and other Palestinian groups called for a "day of rage" over tensions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque site.

Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets as protesters pelted them with stones in city neighborhoods around the Mount of Olives, including in Shuafat refugee camp.

Officials said about 3,000 police had deployed after four days of violence this week at the sensitive site during the Jewish New Year.

In the West Bank, an AFP correspondent reported that skirmishes were more intense than normal for a Friday, which has become a day of protests following Friday Prayers.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, 117 Palestinians were injured by the Israeli fire during the Friday protests in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
