Tel Aviv Missile Strike Leaves Dozens Injured As Yemeni Solidarity with Gaza Intensifies
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A ballistic missile fired from Yemen struck central occupied Palestine early Saturday, injuring over 30 people as Yemeni Armed Forces intensified operations in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
More than a dozen Israeli settlers sustained injuries when the missile launched by Yemeni Armed Forces hit Tel Aviv’s southern Jaffa area.
The Israeli Magen David Adom emergency service reported that 16 people suffered minor injuries from shattered glass, while 14 others were hurt while rushing to shelters.
Footage from the scene revealed a crater at the impact site.
The missile strike triggered sirens across the central region at 3:44 a.m. local time (0144 GMT), forcing thousands to take cover, according to Israeli media reports.
The Israeli military acknowledged that its “attempted interceptions did not succeed” and confirmed that investigations into the incident were underway.
Social media footage captured the moment of impact, failed interception attempts, and damage to nearby apartments, including shattered windows and debris caused by the shockwave.
Saturday's attack followed another missile strike two days earlier, during which Yemeni forces targeted two "strategic" military sites in Tel Aviv with hypersonic ballistic missiles.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, stated on Thursday that their missile units successfully launched two Palestine-2 ballistic missiles, hitting sensitive Israeli military sites.
In response, Israeli warplanes launched intense airstrikes on Yemeni infrastructure, targeting the Haziz and Dhahban power stations near Sana’a, as well as the Hudaydah port and Ras Isa oil terminal.
The Israeli military said it deployed 14 fighter jets, refuelers, and spy planes to strike targets in Yemen, flying over 2,000 kilometers and dropping more than 60 munitions.
Yemen has openly expressed solidarity with Palestine since the onset of Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza on October 7, 2023. Yemeni Armed Forces vowed to continue their attacks until Israel halts its aerial and ground offensives.
The Gaza war has resulted in the deaths of at least 45,206 Palestinians, including many women and children, with another 107,512 injured.
In October, the United States deployed B-2 stealth bombers against Yemen in support of Israel, leading to ongoing strikes aimed at suppressing retaliatory attacks by Sana’a.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is facing growing global calls to investigate allegations of genocide against Israel for its atrocities in Gaza, amid mounting civilian casualties and widespread condemnation.
Meanwhile, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and Human Rights Watch (HRW) have accused Israel of committing genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza, citing severe conditions caused by the ongoing military offensive.
