Iran Ready to Provide Medical Supports for S. Africa: Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Ali Larijani voiced the country’s preparedness to expand its cooperation with South Africa, particularly in the fields of energy and medical services.

In a Sunday meeting with the visiting South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa here in Tehran, Larijani said the two countries can have exchange of information in such fields as health and medicine.

“Iran enjoys great medical capacities and the promotion of mutual cooperation can be beneficial to both sides,” he noted.

He also referred to Tehran’s capabilities in power generation, saying that Iran can help the African state in supplying the energies that it needs.

Ramaphosa, for his part, stressed that South Africa is very much in need of medical and health supports, and that Tehran’s helps in this regard can resolve many of its problems.

He further noted that the two countries share common approaches toward international issues, and can reinforce their cooperation once anti-Iran sanctions are lifted according to a recent nuclear deal finalized by Iran and world powers on July 14.

The African official arrived in Tehran earlier on Saturday for an official visit at the invitation of Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri.
