Minister Sees Terror Attacks in Beirut, Paris as Alarm for Iran, Too
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alawi said the recent terrorist attacks in the Lebanese and French capitals should be regarded as a “serious alarm” when it comes to coordination of security measures in Iran.
The Intelligence Ministry’s top priorities are ensuring security and combatting the threat of Takfiri groups, the minister said in a conference in Tehran on Sunday.
While the country has had good achievements in the fight against Takfiri groups, the recent terrorist attacks in Beirut and Paris should be considered as a serious alarm, he stated.
The incidents in Lebanon and France should be analyzed by experts, Alawi stressed.
His comments came after a string of terrorist attacks killed at least 129 people and wounded dozens of others in Paris on Friday night when gunmen and suicide bombers attacked restaurants, a concert hall and a sports stadium at six different locations across the French capital.
A day earlier, at least 43 people were killed and more than 200 others injured after two explosions struck the General Security Post in Hussaineya Street in Borj al-Barajneh neighborhood, southern Beirut.
The ISIL terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks in both cities.
