President Urges Seizing Nuclear Deal’s Opportunity for Iran’s Progress
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for grasping the opportunity provided by the implementation of the nuclear deal with world powers and helping the country’s progress and prosperity.
Speaking in an open session of the parliament on Sunday, President Rouhani praised the announcement of the “implementation day” of last year’s nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), and called for collective efforts to help the country’s progress in the new atmosphere created after the implementation of the deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA),
“The JCPOA is only an opportunity and a new condition,” he said, adding that the new opportunity and condition should be used for the country’s growth and progress and the people’s welfare as well as for the promotion of stability and security in the region.
The Iranian President went on to say that aspirations for the future will not be realized unless all branches of government and officials remain united and join hands to seize the opportunity.
Rouhani also expressed his gratitude to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei for the Leader’s guidelines on the path to the nuclear deal.
The remarks came after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini on late Saturday announced in a joint statement that the implementation of the nuclear deal has officially been started.
The joint statement read out by the two top diplomats announced the implementation of the agreement, which terminates all nuclear-related anti-Iran sanctions.
