Foreign Meddling to Aggravate Syrian Crisis: Iran’s Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari lashed out at certain decisions to interfere in Syria’s domestic affairs by deploying grounds troops, saying such moves would just exacerbate the complicated crisis in the Arab country.

“Iran believes the Syrian crisis has turned into a complicated and multilayered crisis because of extensive regional and international interferences,” Jaberi Ansari said in his weekly press conference here in Tehran.

The continuation of such policies would exacerbate the crisis and further complicate the issue, making it more difficult to control the situation in the Arab country, he added.

“We hope that all countries will pay attention to these issues before taking any action,” Jaberi Ansari said, reiterating that any move to worsen the complicated crisis can have dire consequences.

“A (possible) military interference by Turkey and Saudi Arabia in Syria is one of the areas in which Iran and Turkey are in disagreement,” Jaberi Ansari further said.

He added that any new measure that is not coordinated with the Syrian government and violates the Arab country’s sovereignty would exacerbate terrorist activities in Syria.

His comments came after Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Saturday Turkey and Saudi Arabia could launch a ground operation against Daesh (also known as ISIL) terrorists in Syria, while Riyadh is also sending war planes to a Turkish base purportedly to fight the Takfiris.
