Hezbollah Terror Listing Sign of PGCC’s Obedience to Israel, US: Analyst
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A Syrian political analyst blasted the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council for its decision to classify the Lebanese Resistance Movement, Hezbollah, as a terrorist organization, describing it as a move to score brownie points from Israel and the US.
The decision to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization is not made by the people of the Persian Gulf Arab nations, but signifies what the Zionist regime of Israel and the US have dictated to the Arab governments, Hessam Shoaib told the Tasnim News Agency.
The move also reveals the Arab governments’ willingness for closer friendship with Israel following Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir’s secret visits to Tel Aviv, he explained.
Shoaib further described the move as a reaction to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, noting that Saudi Arabia opposes improved ties between Iran and the international community fearing that its friendship with Washington will be at stake.
The Arab monarchies of the Persian Gulf on Wednesday declared Hezbollah movement, which has been fighting terrorist groups in Syria and the Israeli occupation, a “terrorist group.”
The six-nation council officially added Hezbollah and all groups affiliated to its so-called list of terrorist organizations.
