Persepolis Moves to Third in Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team defeated Saba 1-0 in the Iranian Professional League on Friday.
Farshad Ahmadzadeh found the back of the net with a header two minutes before the break.
Persepolis moved up to third place in IPL table, four points adrift of leader Esteghlal of Tehran.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate Norouz celebration (starts from March 20) to Persepolis fans," Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said in the news conference.
"It was our toughest match in the league. It was very important to get three points, however I believe that Saba played very well,” Ivankovic added.
Elsewhere, rock-bottom Esteghlal Ahvaz defeated Rah Ahan 1-0 thanks to Taleb Reykani’s 63rd minute goal.
