Sydney Hosts Muslim Women Fashion Show

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The National Archives of Australia has mounted an exhibition of garments for Muslim women in Sydney by showcasing the work of Muslim designers and entrepreneurs.

The event is part of a travelling exhibition developed by the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, held from May 27 to September 4.

Titled “Faith Fashion Fusion: Muslim Women's Style in Australia”, the exhibition displays exquisite garments and sleek fashion shoots with the participation of designers, retailers and bloggers, according to the National Archives website.

The event also showcases emerging modest fashion trends and the work of a new generation of Muslim fashionistas.

The exhibition has been held under the auspices of Iran’s cultural attaché office in Australia.

While the Islamic hijab and dress code is about modesty and attracting as little attention as possible, Muslim women and designers have successfully blended it with popular, fashionable designs.

Hijab-wearing Muslim women should make sure that everything except the face and hands are covered.
