Hegemonic Powers Seeking to Put Distance between Pakistanis, Islamic Revolution: Tasnim Chief
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The managing director of the Tasnim News Agency warned against some Western states’ plots to undermine Muslims, saying the hegemonic powers are spreading Wahhabism in Pakistan to put distance between its people and Iran’s Islamic Revolution.
“Today, the colonial (powers) have invested in Pakistan to promote Wahhabism and to keep the people of the country away from the (1979) Islamic Revolution,” Majid Qolizadeh said in a speech at a ceremony held in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad on Saturday.
However, he added, a wide range of Sunni and Shiite Muslims in Pakistan express interest in the Islamic Revolution and its leaders from the bottom of their hearts.
Qolizadeh further hailed diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries as “age-old” and said Iran was among the first countries that recognized the independence of Pakistan.
He went on to say that the close relations between Iranians and Pakistanis have been based on cultural and religious communities between the two nations.
The Tasnim managing director made the remarks in a ceremony to inaugurate the Urdu service of the news agency and its office in Mashhad, which is specialized in Indian subcontinent affairs.
In a speech in the event, Consul General of Pakistan at Mashhad Yawar Abbas also praised the inauguration of the Urdu service of the Tasnim News Agency and said the move will play an effective role in strengthening relations between the Pakistani and Iranian nations.
