Iran Looking Into Reports of Citizens’ Arrest in Kuwait
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is looking into reports that two of its nationals have been detained in Kuwait, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said.
Bahram Qassemi on Friday said he has not received any official account of the case but that the foreign ministry and the Iranian embassy in the Arab country have been following up on media reports about the arrests.
Kuwaiti media, including state news agency KUNA, on Friday quoted the Arab country’s interior ministry as announcing the “apprehension of two Iranians who we retaking photos of Husseiniyah (Shiite religious centers) in Hawalli Governorate and other sites.”
Upon their arrest, the ministry claimed, police found “suspicious photos” on their cell phones.
According to the reports, the two suspects, named Hassan Ali, born in 1989, and Adel Abdulrahim, born in 1978, were referred to related authorities for “taking necessary legal action”.
