New Iranian Army Generals Appointed by Leader
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei promoted Commander of Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan to lieutenant commander of the Iranian Army, and appointed a new commander to the vacant position.
In a decree on Saturday, Imam Khamenei gave Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan the job of Army second-in-command “on the recommendation of the Army Commander” and given Pourdastan’s “experience, commitment, and competency.”
The Leader also called on him to push for an increase in the Army’s “intelligence and operational preparedness” under the command of Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi.
In a separate decree, Ayatollah Khamenei appointed Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari as commander of the Army Ground Force, urging him to make efforts to boost mobility and efficiency of the units proportional to the modern needs.
Iran’s Army is comprised of four major powers, namely the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force and Air Defense.
