Syria Army Makes More Gains against Takfiri Terrorists
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army, backed by allied forces, stepped up its military campaign against Takfiri groups across the Arab country, killing and injuring a large number of them.
On Saturday, the army troops launched several operations against the terrorists’ positions in the areas of al-Huweiqeh, al-Rushdiyeh, al-Muwazafin and al-Maqaber in the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor, and claimed the lives of scores of them, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported.
Meanwhile, terrorists’ positions were also hit in al-Jubeiliyeh neighborhood in the city.
Separately, the Syrian forces targeted the hideouts of the Jaish al-Fatah terrorist group in Khirbet al-Nakous village in the country's west-central province of Hama, and killed dozens of them.
Elsewhere in Syria, the army carried out counterterrorism operations in the eastern countryside of Homs, killing and injuring dozens of the Takfiris, according to the report.
A military source said the Syrian troops in Tifour area, east of Homs city, advanced toward the al-Soud hills and the village of Shrifa, southwest of Palmyra, killing 15 militants and wounding scores more.
The Syrian forces had thwarted a terrorist attack on Jub al-Jirah district in Homs, leaving 20 terrorists dead on Friday.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.
According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
