Iran Eyes Joint Investment with Sweden
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani voiced the country’s willingness to make joint products with Sweden for exports to regional and international markets.
As a regional hub of industry and diverse technologies, Iran is ready for joint investment with Sweden to manufacture joint products for exports, President Rouhani said at a meeting of high-ranking delegations from Iran and Sweden, held in Tehran on Saturday.
Pointing to the numerous grounds for mutual cooperation, the Iranian president said Tehran can tap into Sweden’s experience in nuclear safety, developing safety equipment for power plants, waste management, and many other areas.
When it comes to transit routes, Iran and Sweden can join hands to connect North and East Europe to the Sea of Oman and East Asia, he pointed out.
Head of the Swedish delegation, Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, for his part, hailed Iran as an essential player in the region, expressing the Scandinavian country’s readiness to enhance ties with Iran in all fields.
Heading a political and trade delegation, Lofven arrived in Tehran on Saturday to become the first Swedish prime minister paying an official visit to Iran.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two countries signed five memoranda of understanding on various issues, such as academic and scientific cooperation, road construction, and telecommunication, as well as women and family.
