IRGC Smashes Terrorist Team Northwest of Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) forces attacked a terrorist team at a border area in Iran’s northwestern province of West Azarbaijan, killing two and wounding four others.
IRGC Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Sunday evening that the “anti-revolutionary terrorist team” had plans to cross the border for terrorist activities and acts of sabotage.
In a timely reaction, the IRGC forces killed two armed militants and wounded four others, the commander noted, adding that ammunition and military equipment and weapons were confiscated in the operation.
There has been a surge in the number of the counter-terrorism operations the IRGC has launched in recent months.
The IRGC is tasked with protecting the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders.
