Iran Loses to Netherlands at World Junior Water Polo Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against Netherlands at the FINA World Men’s Junior Water Polo Championships on Friday.

In the classification 13-16 semifinals, Netherlands downed Iran 14-5 with Sam van der Burg leading the way with five goals.

Iran will face the loser of Japan and Egypt in the competition’s Day 8 for the 15th place.

Iran has lost to Russia, Greece, USA and Netherlands and defeated Puerto Rico and South Africa so far.

The 19th edition of the FINA World Men’s Junior Water Polo Championships is taking place in Belgrade, Serbia, from August 5-20, 2017.

The competition gathers 20 teams from the five continents, an increase of two teams since the previous edition two years ago in Almaty (KAZ), where 18 teams battled it out for the crown.
