Iranian Forces Need Combat Engagement to Boost Capabilities: Top General
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said the programs confining the military forces to pure training and war games are not sufficient to prepare the soldiers, calling for “direct engagement” in practical fields, like on the frontier or the battlefields Iran is involved in.
Mere reliance on military training and holding war games would not satisfy the whole demands of the armed forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said in a military ceremony in Tehran on Saturday.
“There should be direct engagement in the battlefield and face-off with the enemy to prepare the (military) forces,” the top general added.
To that end, he noted, the Iranian Army and Air Defense forces need to boost their capabilities “at the borders and the fronts that the Islamic Revolution is active.”
The top commander further highlighted the complementary role for the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), saying they could enjoy each other’s capacities and capabilities to strengthen the country’s might.
Major General Baqeri finally warned of the high costs of a military assault against Iran, saying the enemies have come to the conclusion that a military attack on Iran would result in a “humiliating defeat” and heavy casualties for them.
That is why the adversaries have opted for proxy wars against Iran, he explained.
In comments in May, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei cautioned the adversaries against the “harsh reaction” they will have to suffer in case of any offense against Iran, stressing that the era of hit and run is over.
“The enemies should know that if they come up with the idea of an act of aggression against Iran, they will face a harsh reaction,” Imam Khamenei said.
The Leader reiterated that the era of hit and run has ended, reminding the enemies that they might begin a war against Iran, but the decision to end it would not be theirs.
