Turkish Forces Kill 152 PKK Terrorists in October

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Turkish security forces killed 152 PKK terrorists and destroyed 129 hideouts of the organization, in a series of counter-terrorism operations across Turkey and northern Iraq in the month of October.

According to information gathered by Anadolu Agency, operations were conducted in southeastern and eastern provinces of Hakkari, Sirnak, Siirt, Diyarbakir, Tunceli, Erzurum and northern Iraq region.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, Anadolu Agency reported.

During the operations, 129 bunkers including weapon emplacements, shelters, caves and storages were destroyed to prevent the winter deployment of the terrorists in the region.

The security forces also seized a number of weapons, ammunition and equipment, including 120 improvised explosives, 113 hand grenades and 93 infantry rifles.

Additionally, a total of 183 PKK terrorists were arrested. One of the arrested terrorists was in-charge of the organization in Agri region.

A total of 14 security personnel were martyred, while 38 security personnel and three civilians wounded in separate attacks the terror organization carried out in October.

One soldier and a security guard were martyred in an attack by the terrorists in the southeastern province of Sirnak on Oct.1.

Four Turkish soldiers were martyred and four others injured in an attack by PKK terrorists in the southeastern province of Hakkari on Oct. 4.

Three Turkish security guards were martyred by the terrorists in southeastern Diyarbakir province in Oct. 7.

Seven Turkish troops were injured on Oct.14 in an attack by PKK terrorists in the southeastern province of Siirt, when the terrorists detonated a roadside bomb as a military vehicle was passing by in the Sirvan district’s Ucyol region.

On Oct. 16, two Turkish soldiers were martyred and three others injured in an operation in northern Iraq when the PKK terrorists detonated improvised explosives.

At least 12 policemen were wounded in a bomb attack targeting a police vehicle in Turkey's southern Mersin city on Oct. 17.

On Oct. 22, one Turkish soldier was martyred and two others slightly wounded during a counter-terrorism operation in the eastern province of Van.
