Trump Decision on Quds Unmasked ‘Ugly Face of US’: Palestinian Figure
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem (al-Quds) as capital of the Zionist regime of Israel unmasked the ugly face of Washington policies, senior Palestinian figure said.
“Trump decision on Quds unmasked the ugly face of the US more than before,” Mohammad al-Bahisi, head of the Palestine-Iran Friendship Association said in an exclusive interview with Tasnim.
He said that the Trump decision on Quds proved the fact that the US and Zionist regime are “two sides of the same coin”.
Al-Bahisi said that the US measure will strengthen the axis of resistance in the region and will speed up collapse of the Zionist regime.
The Palestinian official then criticized certain Muslim states including, Saudi Arabia's alliance with Washington and said that the Trump move against Quds exposed betrayal of puppet regimes’ that owe their existence to US.
He described them as regimes that have been basically established to save Israel.
Trump declared on December 6 that his administration would begin a years-long process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the city of Quds.
Palestinian leaders had previously warned the move would threaten a two-state solution.
Israel has occupied East Quds since the 1967 Middle East war. It annexed the area in 1980 and sees it as its exclusive domain. Under international law, the area is considered to be occupied territory.
