IRGC Medical Doctors Sent to Syria, Iraq: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has been sending medical doctors to Syria and Iraq to help treat the injured in the two war-stricken Arab countries, a ranking commander said.

The IRGC, at the request of the Iraqi and Syrian governments, has sent medical doctors and set up medical units and temporary hospitals in the two Arab countries to help treat those injured in the battle against terror groups there, IRGC Deputy Commander for Health and Medical Education General Ahmad Abdollahi told reporters on Monday.

So far, scores of Syrian and Iraqi fighters have received free medical services there, he added.

The Iranian military official further said that the IRGC is also providing health and development services to people in underprivileged areas in Iran and Pakistan as well as war-hit countries, including Myanmar.

Last July, Commander of the IRGC Ground Force Quds Base General Mohammad Marani said his forces had constructed 44 field hospitals in Iran’s southeastern region since 2009.
