Iran’s Alireza Haghighi Joins GIF Sundsvall
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi has joined Swedish professional football club GIF Sundsvall.
The 29-year-old keeper, who has played at Persepolis, Rubin Kazan, Sporting Covilha, Penafiel and Maritimo, has joined GIF Sundsvall from AFC Eskilstuna until the summer.
Haghighi represented Iran national football team in the 2014 World Cup and showed a decent performance against Argentina in group stage.
Gymnastik- och Idrottsföreningen Sundsvall, more commonly known as GIF Sundsvall or simply Sundsvall, is a Swedish professional football club based in Sundsvall.
The club is affiliated to Medelpads Fotbollförbund and play its home games at Idrottsparken. The club colors, reflected in its crest and kit, is blue.
Formed in 25 August 1903, the club has played 17 seasons in Sweden's highest football league Allsvenskan, the club's first season in the league was in 1965.
