Iran to Play Uzbekistan in Friendly on May 19
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national football team will meet Uzbekistan in a friendly match as part of preparation for the 2018 World Cup.
The match is scheduled to be played on May 19 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Iran defeated Uzbekistan twice in the 2018 World Cup qualification in Group A.
Team Melli will also play two friendlies against Turkey and Greece before traveling to Russia.
Iran has been drawn with Spain, Portugal and Morocco in Group B of the 2018 World Cup.
Carlos Queiroz’s team is determined to advance to the next stage for the first time.
Iran has never gotten past the group stage in four World Cup appearances.
