Syria President Celebrates Eid Al-Adha at Damascus Mosque
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad prayed at a Damascus mosque early on Tuesday morning as Muslims marked the Eid al-Adha holiday, state media said.
State television broadcast images of the president praying at al-Rawda Mosque in the capital.
Assad was joined at the prayers by a number of members of his party, as well as several ministers and members of the parliament.
Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice) is an important festival on the Islamic calendar which marks the climax of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
During the festivities, Muslims pay tribute to Prophet Abraham's submission to the divine order of sacrificing his son.
