IRGC General: Iran Could Manage US Forces in Mideast Quickly

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said Iran has gained such a high level of influential power that it could manage the US forces in the Middle East in a short time span.

In comments at a television talk show on Saturday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami said Iran has acquired the capability to project influential power in the face of the US.

While US President Donald Trump has admitted that Iran can take control of the Middle East in just 12 minutes, Iran can also manage the American forces in the region in a short time span, he added.

Highlighting the US failure to isolate Iran through various approaches, such as imposing sanctions, General Salami said Washington itself has been politically isolated in the world.

The option of military action against Iran is out of the question and doomed to failure, he said, stressing that the US is no more able to form political alliances against Iran or isolate the country in the economic arena.

“The US economy is not capable of handling a new war. A combat with the Islamic Republic will push the war to outside the region, because the US military structure is worn-out and they (Americans) have been almost driven out of the Persian Gulf,” the IRGC general stated.

“US aircraft carriers are within the range of the ballistic missiles with pin-point accuracy that are capable of hitting mobile targets,” he warned.

Salami then reiterated that Iran is helping Syria at the request of the Damascus government, saying the duration of Iranian presence in the Arab country depends on Syria’s will.

“We stay there as long as Syria wants so,” he said, stressing that there is no conflicting views between Iran and Russians regarding Syria.
