Trump’s Behavior Has Crushed Human Rights Systems, Says Iran’s Larijani
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani deplored US President Donald Trump’s unilateralism and approach to terrorism and said his behavior has also seriously undermined human rights systems in the world.
“Today, the president of the United States has created unilateralism that is dangerous and has commercialized human values,” Larijani said in Tehran on Saturday, addressing the second edition of a conference of six regional countries on ways to combat the threat of terrorism.
“In practice, Trump’s behavior has crushed human rights systems and shattered the world’s hope for global management,” the Iranian parliament speaker added.
The US and some of its allies have caused terrorism to spread while they are claiming to combat the phenomenon, he said, adding that they are using terrorism as an instrument.
Larijani also expressed hope that the ongoing conference on counter-terrorism in Tehran would play an active role in promoting security in the region.
The second conference of six regional countries - Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Russia and China- on ways to counter the threat of terrorism kicked off on Saturday morning.
It aims to weigh plans to combat terrorism, share the experiences of participants, adopt new and effective regional approaches, promote regional cooperation, and push for the establishment of broad-based and sustainable peace and development.
The previous meeting was held in Pakistan’s Islamabad in December 2017.
The idea to hold such gatherings was put forward by Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq during the 2nd meeting of the Eurasian Parliaments’ Speakers in Seoul in June 2017.
