Masoud Shojaei A Key Component of Team Melli: AFC
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Asian Football Confederation (AFC) website says Masoud Shojaei is among the veteran players who have graced the AFC Asian Cup previously and may very well be doing so for the last time on the continental stage.
Next in the-AFC.com's '10 of the Best' series, the-afc.com compiled a list of veterans who continue to perform at the very highest level for club and country, and will be striving to inspire their nations to glory come January.
According to the site, a key component of Carlos Queiroz's side in his near eight years as Iran coach, Shojaei looks set to take his place in Team Melli's squad for the fourth successive AFC Asian Cup, while he has also appeared at two FIFA World Cups.
The midfielder enjoyed several successful seasons in Spain between 2008 and 2014 and recently returned to his homeland after two seasons in Greece.
He will be desperate to go beyond the quarter-final for the first time.
