Iran Can Have the Best Performance at Asian Cup: Queiroz
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz believes that Team Melli will have its best performance at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
Iran has been drawn in group D along with Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam.
“Eight years ago, when I came to Iran, we faced challenges and issues. Now eight years later, we are heading to the UAE for the AFC Asian Cup and the most important legacy we leave is the infrastructure for our future generations,” said the former Real Madrid coach.
“The most important thing for the national team is to conquer the hearts of the people and satisfy the majority who quietly love the national team. I believe that all these players are doing their best and with the help of God, I hope we can have the best performance in the AFC Asian Cup,” added Queiroz.
The last of Iran's three triumphs in the AFC Asian Cup was in 1976, meaning that it will be 43 years since it last won the title by the time the action in UAE 2019 kicks off in January.
