Ex-Iran Coach Carlos Queiroz Takes Charge of Colombia
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Former Iran national football team coach Carlos Queiroz was named the new head coach of Colombia team.
The 65-year-old coach has penned a four-year contract with the South American football team.
Queiroz’s first major task will be 2019 Copa America, where it is pooled with Argentina, Paraguay and Qatar in Group B.
The matches are scheduled to begin on June 14 with the final set to be played at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 7.
Queiroz was in charge of Iran between 2011 and 2019, leading the country to consecutive World Cups in 2014 and 2018.
He stepped down after the Asian Cup semifinal 3-0 defeat to Japan last week.
