Iran Never Allows Others to Interfere in Ties with Pakistan: Rouhani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani reiterated the country’s policy to boost cooperation with Pakistan in all spheres and said Tehran would never allow others to interfere in the close relations between the two neighbors.

Speaking at a meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Pakistan in Tehran on Monday attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Rouhani said a new chapter has opened in the history of bilateral ties between the two countries.

He highlighted the numerous potentials for closer economic and security cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad and said, “By activating all the cooperation potentials, we can make a good development and speed up relations between the two countries to serve both nations and peoples in the region.”

The Pakistani premier, for his part, said Islamabad is after long-lasting relations with Tehran, adding that to that aim, there are numerous potentials in the region which should be tapped.

Tehran and Islamabad have recently ramped up efforts to boost bilateral relations in various areas.

In his first official visit to Iran after taking office in August 2018, Imran Khan arrived in Iran on Sunday for talks on a host of issues, including ways to enhance cooperation in political, economic, security, and cultural fields.

Before arriving in Tehran, Khan made a short stop in the city of Mashhad, where he visited the holy shrine of Imam Reza, the 8th Shiite Imam.
