Unbeaten Iran Suffers First Defeat at VNL 2019
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian national volleyball team was defeated against Brazil at the 2019 Volleyball Nations League Week 2 on Friday.
Igor Kolakovic’s men lost to powerhouse Brazil 3-2 (23-25, 25-16, 21-25, 33-31, 15-10) at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza in Tokyo, Japan.
Ricardo Lucarelli Souza had 20 points for the Brazilian team and Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi was Iran’s best scorer with 19 points.
Iran is scheduled to meet Argentina and Japan on Saturday and Sunday.
The 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League is the second edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League, an annual international men's volleyball tournament contested by 16 national teams.
The competition is held between May and July 2019 and the final round will take place in the Credit Union 1 Arena, Chicago, United States.
This is the first edition of the World League or the Nations League to have the Final Round hosted in North America.
