2 IRGC Forces Martyred in Northwest Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has lost two forces in a clash with separatist groups in the northwesternmost corner of Iran.
The two IRGC servicemen were martyred during clashes with terrorist separatists in the city of Maku, located in the province of West Azarbaijan near the common border with Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The funeral of the two local martyrs, identified as First Lieutenant Nasser Mahdizade and First Lieutenant Nasser Soorvari, is held in Maku on Wednesday before they are laid to rest in their home towns.
The IRGC is tasked with protecting the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders.
In July 2018, anti-revolutionary terrorists attacked a border post of the Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base in the western province of Kurdistan, killing 11 forces of the base.
