Enemy Seeking to Disappoint Iranian People: Judiciary Chief
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Judiciary Chief Hojatoleslam Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi highlighted the US government’s continued hostilities toward the Islamic Republic and said the enemy’s strategy to undermine the country is to disappoint the people.
“The enemy’s strategy is to disappoint the people and cause worries and doubts about great assets that the country possesses,” Raeisi said, addressing a meeting with a gathering of people in the southern province of Bushehr on Thursday.
“The friends of the (Islamic) Revolution and those who care about the people and the Establishment should take steps to meet the people’s demands and solve their problems,” he said.
The judiciary chief further pointed to the enemy plots against the upcoming elections in Iran and said, “Whatever their motives, anyone who questions the electoral process, whether knows it or not, whether wants it or not, he is on the enemy's side by weakening the process.”
The registration of candidates for the 11th round of parliamentary elections in Iran began December 1 and ended on December 7.
The parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections will be held simultaneously across the country on February 21.
There are currently 290 seats in the Iranian parliament, known as Majlis, elected by direct vote of people in nationwide election for four years.
The Assembly of Experts is a high-ranking body that elects and oversees the activities of the leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Members of the assembly are directly elected to office by people for an eight-year term. It holds biannual meetings to appoint a new chairman.
