TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian expatriates in London marked the 41st anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Similar ceremonies were held in the capitals of Russia, Iraq, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine, during which the attendants also marked 40 days after martyrdom of senior Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, who was assassinated in a US strike in Iraq in January.

In 1979 the Iranian nation abolished the monarchy with Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini at the helm of a movement no one thought would succeed.

Despite 8 years of war against Iran and US-led sanctions imposed on it ever since the victory of the revolution, its message has kept on spreading.

And the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani has only fueled people’s resolve to preserve it.

Those who gathered at the events said it was important now, more than ever for the achievements of the Islamic Republic to be remembered.

The Islamic Revolution shocked the world and today, 41 years later as wars ravage countries like Yemen and Syria, it symbolizes what could be if the resistance against tyranny would spread across the globe.
