WHO: Iran Doing Its Best to Stem COVID-19

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is doing the best it can to control the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, but needs more support, the head of the World Health Organization said.

"Iran is doing its best... We are trying to mobilize more support for Iran," WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters in Geneva on Wednesday.

"They need lots of supplies, and ... we have tried to support as much as we can, but there is still a shortage," he added, according to AFP. 

"We're trying to mobilize more support for Iran," Adhanom said.

The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran hit 9,000 on Wednesday after the detection of 958 new cases.

The death toll from COVID-19 outbreak in the country has also risen to 354. Meanwhile, nearly 3,000 coronavirus patients have recovered from respiratory disease and been discharged from the hospital so far.
