Six Players Tested Positive for COVID-19 ahead of IPL New Season

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Six football players have been tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the start of the 20th edition of the Iran Professional League.

Zohreh Haratian, head of Iran football Medical assessment and rehabilitation center (IFMARC), said that their clubs have been informed that they cannot play due to the coronavirus.

According to her, the players will spend their quarantine at home.

The 2020/21 IPL season was originally scheduled to begin on Oct. 31 but the Iran’s Sports Medicine Federation requested a six-day delay in order to cut chain of coronavirus’ spread.

“The league will surely begin on Friday behind closed the doors. The competition will be held with stringent health protocols due to a coronavirus outbreak,” Mohammad Nabi had already said.
