Mahmoud Fekri Going Nowhere: Esteghlal
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal football club backed its head coach Mahmoud Fekri after some media reports suggested that the Iranian club is searching for a new coach.
Fekri was appointed as Esteghlal coach in early October as Farhad Majidi’s replacement.
Under the leadership of the coach, Esteghlal sits third in the Iran Professional League (IP), having suffered a loss while earning two draws and wins.
“Some people are going to distract our concentration but they must know it’s possible to reach their goals by spreading the false news. Mahmoud Fekri is the only candidate to continue his work in the club and he goes nowhere,” an Esteghlal statement reads.
Fekri came under pressure after 1-1 draw against Sanat Naft on Monday.
