Harsh Revenge Awaiting Assassins of Gen. Soleimani: Iran’s Top General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri warned that a severe revenge awaits the criminals who ordered and perpetrated the assassination of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

In a message on the first anniversary of martyrdom of General Soleimani, the top Iranian general said the Islamic Republic and the Muslim and freedom-seeking nations of the world are determined to take revenge on those behind the criminal assassination of the commander.

The expulsion of the US forces from the West Asia region is inevitable, Major General Baqeri said in the message, released on Thursday.

Echoing remarks by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the senior commander said a harsh revenge awaits the elements that have General Soleimani’s blood on their hands.

General Soleimani is the international figure of resistance and all proponents of resistance are after revenge for his blood, he said.

Baqeri also referred to the massive funeral of General Soleimani and his companions as a slap in the face of the US, saying the revolutionary youth of regional nations are resolved to throw the US out of West Asia.

General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and several of their companions, was assassinated in a US airstrike authorized by US President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3.

Both General Soleimani and al-Muhandis played a key role in defeating the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group which at its peak, threatened a complete take-over of Iraq and Syria.

Iraqi lawmakers unanimously approved a bill on January 5, demanding the withdrawal of all foreign military forces led by the United States from the country following the assassination of the two anti-terror commanders.
