Iran, Iraq Perfectly Suited for Regional Economic Hub: Pezeshkian
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Iraq are located in a unique geographical position to form an economic hub in the region, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said.
The president made the comments in a joint meeting between high-ranking Iranian and Iraqi delegations in Tehran on Wednesday, saying that the Iranian government is ready to establish that hub.
Highlighting the historical, religious and cultural commonalities between the two nations, the president said Iranians and Iraqis have lived together for years despite the plots to sow discord between the two nations.
Pezeshkian expressed hope that the visit by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani and his entourage to Tehran would help upgrade the level of mutual ties and enhance peace, security and economic development.
The Iraqi premier, for his part, lauded Iran’s support for his country. He noted that his government is determined to implement the bilateral plans such as rail and road projects, establishment of joint economic zones in the border areas, as well as gas and electricity projects.
