Coronavirus Death Toll in Iran about to Hit 63,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s death toll from the coronavirus has reached close to 63,000 as the number of new infected cases and hospital admissions have begun to rise, the Health Ministry said Saturday.
Providing the latest statistics on the coronavirus infection, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said on April 3 that the pandemic has claimed 123 lives over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Iran to 62,999.
The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has surpassed 1,920,300 after the detection of 11,420 new cases since yesterday, Sima Sadat Lari added.
More than 1,642,400 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, she noted.
Among those undergoing treatment at present, 4,024 are being kept in the Intensive Care Units of medical centers because of critical health conditions, Lari said.
The spokeswoman also noted that more than 13.03 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 130 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.85 million.
