Russia Hails 'Successful' JCPOA Joint Commission Meeting in Vienna
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Russian ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna in a message described the JCPOA joint commission meeting in Vienna as a success.
Mikhail Ulyanov said Tuesday's meeting with those parties still in the deal was "successful," though restoring the agreement would take time.
“Two expert-level groups (on sanctions lifting and nuclear issues) were tasked to identify concrete measures to be taken by Washington and Tehran to restore full implementation of JCPOA. The groups started to work immediately,” Ulyanov wrote in his Twitter account on Tuesday.
“The restoration of JCPOA will not happen immediately. It will take some time. How long? Nobody knows,” he said in a separate message.
"The most important thing after today's meeting of the Joint Commission is that practical work towards achieving this goal has started," he added.
The 18th session of the Joint Commission of the Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) commenced at 2:30 p.m. local time in Grand Hotel in Vienna.
Abbas Araqchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, arrived in Vienna, Austria's capital on Monday evening to attend the session.
Araghchi heads the Iranian delegation, which includes members from the Central Bank of Iran, the Iranian Oil Ministry, and the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization.
On Friday, the Joint Commission of the JCPOA held its quarterly meeting via video conference, with delegations from Iran and the 4+1 (E3+China and Russia) discussing the latest developments in the agreement.
