Esteghlal’s Rival Al-Hilal Wins Saudi Pro League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Al-Hilal SFC emerged champion of the Saudi Pro League for the 17th time after defeating Al-Taawoun.
Sunday's 1-0 win took Al-Hilal to 58 points, four more than Al-Shahab with just a match to play with the title sealed despite the Riyadh giant having suffered a dip in form midway through the season.
Frenchman Bafétimbi Gomis scored after only five minutes, hitting the ball home with a firm right-footed strike from inside the area.
The league title is the 62nd trophy Al-Hilal has won and it will be looking to add the 2021 AFC Champions League title to its cabinet, having sealed a place in the Round of 16.
Al-Hilal will meet Esteghlal of Iran in September.
