Mosimane Rues Esteghlal’s Lack of Cutting Edge

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal football team head coach Pitso Mosimane is frustrated by his team's struggles in front of the goal in recent assignments.

Despite going the last eight games without tasting defeat across all competitions, the two-time AFC Champions League champion is just not getting it right in the final third. The team has managed three draws in the last three games, two of them being goalless and one ending 1-1.

“We have a lot of challenges, obviously the challenge is on scoring goals. I’m trying to do something about it,” said Mosimane.

“We can’t find goals with Arman (Ramezani) and Blanco (Gustavo). We have scored two in four games. I tried Kooshki (Alireza), who is a winger, you can see I’m trying, it’s not easy to find the best person to score,” he added.

“Juma (Masoud) is sick, he hasn’t been training for two days. It’s getting more difficult with the challenges. Roozbeh (Cheshmi) is injured, Hossein (Hosseini) is injured, Zobeir (Niknafs) is injured, so it’s part of life but there is no use complaining. We can’t complain, this is what I have and we are trying to do something about it.”

The next assignment for Mosimane will be in the Persian Gulf Pro League against leader Sepahan on Thursday.
