Coronavirus Death Toll in Iran Exceeds 82,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from COVID-19 infection in Iran surpassed 82,000 on Sunday, while more than 2.65 million patients have recovered from the disease across the country.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Sunday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari put the death toll from the novel coronavirus in Iran at 82,098, saying the disease has taken the lives of 187 patients over the past 24 hours.
She also noted that at least 2,652,792 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country.
The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 3,028,700 following the detection of 8,195 new cases since Saturday noon, the spokeswoman added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,445 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 21.56 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 4.32 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 176 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.8 million.
