Mehdi Mahdavikia Takes Charge of Iran U-23 Team

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Legendary football player Mehdi Mahdavikia took charge of Iran U-23 football team.

On Sunday, the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) announced that the 43-year-old coach will lead the team.

He will coach the team in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2022 Qualifiers in October.

The team was without a coach since parting company with Hamid Estili in January 2020.

Mahdavikia owns Kia Academy and has introduced young talented players to Iran football in recent years.
