Occupation Doomed to Expulsion, Shamkhani Warns Israel
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani warned the Zionist regime that its policy of occupation will meet the same humiliating fate that the US suffered in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
In a post on his Twitter account on Wednesday, Shamkhani touched on the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, saying, “The end of any occupation is a humiliating expulsion.”
“The fate that befell the United States in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq is also the inevitable fate of the occupying Zionist regime,” the senior Iranian security official warned.
Since 2001, the US has spent $2.26 trillion in Afghanistan, the Costs of War Project at Brown University calculates.
The US has been pulling its military forces from Afghanistan in recent weeks as the Taliban declared the war in Afghanistan over, after its members swept into the capital, Kabul, and President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
