Iran Beaten by Poland at 2021 FIVB U-19 World C’ship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran was defeated against Poland at the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship on Friday.

Masoud Armat’s team lost to Poland 3-0 (25-23, 25-23 and 25-15).

Iran, who had started the campaign with a 3-0 win over India, will play Nigeria on Saturday.

Out of 20, only 18 teams are competing in the 17th edition after the Dominican Republic joined Guatemala as a few of their players turned COVID-19 positive.

Italy is the reigning champion. It won the title in Tunis two years ago while host Iran (2017 champ), Brazil (2003 champ) and Russia are the contenders.

The tournament consists of two pools of four and two pools of five, with the top two from each advancing to the knockout stage.
