Arrangements Made for Delivery of German-Made BioNTech Vaccine to Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Germany made arrangements for the shipment of coronavirus vaccines developed by German company BioNTech to Iran.
In a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Thursday, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas expressed his country’s readiness for all measures in order to supply Iran with the BioNTech vaccine for the coronavirus.
Maas also hailed Iran for facilitating the evacuation of German citizens from Afghanistan, called for the immediate restart of the Vienna talks for the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, and voiced Berlin’s readiness to enhance relations with Tehran in various fields.
For his part, Amirabdollahian urged Germany to finalize the negotiations for the delivery of BioNTech vaccine to Iran.
He also lashed out at the US for its hypocrisy, saying the American sanctions have impeded even the delivery of vital pharmaceutical products, such as the German-made vaccines, to Iran.
Denouncing the US government for the lack of a proper understanding of the region and its people, Amirabdollahian said, “The Americans must realize that they cannot speak with any language other than respect, courtesy and logic.”
He also noted that Iran approves of the Vienna nuclear talks in principle, but it favors the negotiations that would terminate the sanctions practically and fulfill the legitimate rights of Iran.
The Iranian foreign minister advised the European troika -Germany, the UK and France- to change their behavior and stop inaction when it comes to honoring the JCPOA commitments.
