Iran Reports 160 COVID-19 Deaths in 24 Hours

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry on Tuesday said that 160 coronavirus patients have succumbed to the infectious disease in the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry’s public relations office, the total death toll from COVID-19 in Iran reached 126,616 after the disease took the lives of 160 people from Monday noon to Tuesday noon.

It added that 10,104 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, of whom 1,344 were hospitalized.

This takes the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 5,944,599, the ministry said.

It noted that more than 5.53 million coronavirus patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals so far.

Over 53.1 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine so far, and more than 36 million have received the second dosage.

Worldwide, the number of people infected with the coronavirus has exceeded 248 million and the death toll is above 5.02 million.
