Coronavirus Deaths in Iran Surpass 127,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran has exceeded 127,000, the Health Ministry said.
Figures released by the ministry on Friday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 132 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 127,053.
According to the statistics, 8,633 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 1,163 of them hospitalized.
More than 5.57 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,973,400 who have contracted the disease, the Health Ministry added.
Some 3,732 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
It also said that more than 54.76 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 37.78 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 249 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.04 million.
