Iran Sees Lowest Daily COVID Deaths in 18 Weeks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of patients who have died of the coronavirus infection in Iran over the past 24 hours stood at 120, the lowest daily death toll since July 3.

The Iranian Health Ministry put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 127,173 on Saturday, saying the disease has taken the lives of 120 patients over the past 24 hours, the lowest toll in 126 days.

Over the past 24 hours, 6,803 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 985 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 5,588,500 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,980,200 ones who have contracted the disease.

Some 3,713 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 54.97 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 38.43 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 249 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.05 million.
